This was a short one that kinda felt long…and I’m not sure it was a good thing.

We have Kristmas (real name!) returning to her home time for the Christmas holiday as she’s in need of a reset. Her life is a bit of a mess and she feels like renting a home and dowsing herself in nostalgia makes good sense. She’s not expecting her past to catch up with her.

Deuce is home to bury his mother and is feeling more than a little lost. Bring back home makes him think of his past mistakes and the “one that got away”. Much to his surprise, when he goes to the basketball court that was his refuge in high school he comes across Kristmas. Maybe he’ll get that second chance.

This wasn’t a hard book to read in that the stakes are pretty low. You can tell, almost immediately, that not much is needed for Deuce to win Kristmas back. I just didn’t care as much as I should about their relationship. He definitely needed to do some serious apologizing and I think Kristmas let him off entirely too easy. Deuce is now on the NBA and love bombed her a bit to get his way.

It was ok and, as it’s part of a series, I might read the others which I think are about his 2 brothers.
