Only for the Week by Natasha Bishop

Updated: Aug 5

I really enjoyed this book. It’s got just about everything: family drama, friend drama, illicit meetups, sex on sex on sex, tropical locale. There was a lot packed on but it was a full and complete story.

Janelle is the maid of honor for her older sisters wedding…to Janelle’s ex boyfriend. But it’s fine. They were not a good match and her older sister is much better suited to be his wife. However, regardless of how many times she says it, everyone assumes that things will be awkward. Nonetheless, she’s looking forward to a wonderful 2 weeks in Tulum, especially when she gets to spend more time with Rome, her ex’s best friend and the best man.

Rome has had a crush on Janelle from the moment he was introduced to her many years ago. But she was off limits because she was dating his friend. Welp, now that said friend is getting married, now might be a good time to shoot his shot!

Janelle is stressed because her sister is treating her horribly and acting a straight ass. Rome is a witness to the shenanigans and offers himself as a “stress relief” for the week. Janelle takes him up on it and whew chile! Thangs get spicy!

I liked how grown up their conversations were. There was a problem? It was discussed as adults. People aren’t treating you right? As you come to that realization, you nip it in the bud and you cut them off. And the epilogues (which were recently added to the book), only make you love the characters more.

I really hope that we get books on Janelle’s friends, too. They were integral to the success of the story and I would love to get back into this world!
