Whew chile. I knew book 2 was going to be nonstop nonsense, drama and shenanigans but I still wasn’t prepared for all that Ms Davenport had planned for Khara and Riddick!

There were a lot of unknowns at the conclusion of book 1. I won’t spoil them here, but just know that the queen is in trouble and it’s very clear who the “bad actors” are. Riddick is beside himself trying to help while also staying out the way and possibly slowing down the queens elite guard.

When things get somewhat to normal, Riddick’s past insecurities starts to rear up. He starts to doubt that he’s right for the queen. He believes he’s unworthy. He’s concerned that past enemies might be looking for him bad get the queen instead. Considering all the conversations he’s had with Khara, he’s convinced himself that their relationship won’t last.

During this portion of the books, I’ll admit, I shed more than a couple tears. I knew it would be an HEA but I honestly didn’t see how they’d fix it. But, fix it they do and the next sections are bliss… until more shenanigans and chaos come in.

When I tell you I speed-read the last chapters, babee! I was totally engrossed and invested. There were many moments where I seriously doubted that an HEA was even possible. I’ll give you fair warning not to start the last section if you are trying to go to bed!

The additional epilogue also made the conclusion of this story even more sweet. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and was completely immersed in Khara and Riddick’s world.
